My Mom’s Picture

9 Feb

Hey You! (Mom's picture)

My mom took this picture today and I thought it was the cutest thing, so I had to put it up here. I swear, these two ducks followed us all over the pier just so we could take their picture. We didn’t even feed them until a few minutes before we left. Haha they were adorable.

She took this picture with her Sony a330.

Panoramic View from the Lighthouse

8 Feb

Panoramic Sunset from the Lighthouse

Today was a lot of fun. My mom picked me up and we went out to Edenton Waterfront to see what kind of sunset pictures we could come up with. There were two ducks that kept following us around the piers wanting us to take their pictures. Hehe. We ended up giving them some of my chocolate chip cookie after a while cause they were so cute. We took tons of pics around the piers and I took a lot of pictures of the Roanoke River Lighthouse that is in the park on the waterfront right now. They plan on renovating it in the next few months, and a guy was there looking at it while we were leaving. He saw us taking pictures, and let us come up to the top of the lighthouse and take pictures of the sunset! It was so cool. It was built in the late 1800’s and the state is providing $1.2 million for its restoration in the spring… Here’s a link to a webpage telling its history. It’s really interesting, and worth reading if you’re interested. =)

Anyway, there are a TON of pics in the February gallery, so go check them all out. My fave of the sunset was this panoramic. I started taking pics with my Minolta, but it was eating up all my batteries so I switched to my Fujifilm. The few pictures I took with the Minolta are tagged “Minolta” and all the Fuji ones are tagged “Fujifilm” (obviously…)

Pier to the Sun

7 Feb

Pier to the Sun

Today, my mom and I took our cameras out towards Camp Cale to take some pictures of the sunset. My mom is getting into photography too since she got a Sony a330 for her birthday last week. Then we went out to Elizabeth City to Walmart, and on the way found some more pretty spots to take pictures at of the sunset, so there’s a lot of pictures. All of them are in my February 2010 album. I took all the pictures today on the Minolta. There’s some pictures of the pink sunset with purple clouds that look like someone took a paintbrush and just swiped at the sky with purple paint. =)

Wind Chime

6 Feb

Windchime

I really love this picture. I like how you can barely see the wind chime because the camera focused on the branch, and the bokeh effect in the picture…. You can really see the depth to the picture. It’s not what everyone would think of as a great picture, but I really like it. It’s always the odd and unique pictures that I like the best. =)

Sunny Clouds

5 Feb

Sunny Clouds

I actually took this picture (and the others in the February gallery like this one) a few days ago. Today it was raining all day long, and it was really windy, so there definitely was no sun in the sky… I love this picture though. The sun is always the best model. You can’t take a picture of the sun or a picture with the sun in it and not end up with a pretty picture. Plus, the polarizing lens filter made the blue sky pop really well in all the pictures. There are a few others in the gallery that I added along with this one. I just couldn’t decide on one to share. =)

Pretty Sun

Pretty Sun

The sun looked so pretty on the canal. I like taking pictures with the sun in the shot so I get a little lens flare. =)

Snowy Trampoline

Snowy Trampoline

The trampoline held quite a lot of snow. I don’t know if you can see him, but a little birdy was taking shelter under it. Hehe.

Even Still Some Snow!

1 Feb

Snowy Canal

There’s still some snow today! It’s starting to melt a little, but it’s probably going to stick for another day or two. =)

The canal looks so pretty with the snow all around it.

Still Some Snow!

Pine Cones

The snow stuck over night, and we even got a tiny bit more. This picture is some pine cones in a tree… I thought they looked pretty with a little snow on top. =)

There’s lots more pictures of the snow in my January 2010 Gallery.
